Wire EDM Machining Service
We offer premier wire cutting machining services in China, utilizing advanced equipment to produce components with exceptional precision. Our modern wire EDM machinery combined with lean manufacturing processes enables us to fabricate the most complex and delicate parts and geometries with assured quality—whether you require a single prototype, a small-scale production run, or large orders comprising tens of thousands of components.
Delivering Exceptional Wire-Cut EDM Services
At Fuming, we have been applying wire EDM technology since 2003 to produce tools and molds for our internal manufacturing processes. Shortly thereafter, we expanded our EDM department to offer comprehensive production capabilities for customer projects.
Today, we operate a range of advanced Mitsubishi wire EDM machines to manufacture molds and custom 2D metal components for our clients. We continuously invest in upgrading our wire EDM processing technology to ensure access to the most advanced features available.
The majority of our EDM systems are dedicated to customer part production, with a smaller portion reserved for tool and mold manufacturing. However, we maintain the flexibility to scale production as needed, transitioning some or all of our tool and die EDM resources to parts production—enabling us to fulfill high-volume orders quickly and efficiently. This adaptability benefits both our operations and our customers.

Furthermore, we can reliably achieve dimensional accuracy within +/-0.001mm.
Benefits of Wire EDM Services
Dynamic Design & Manufacturing routinely works within ±0.0001″ tolerances—where typical wire EDM precision exceeds the width of a human hair. The advantage of utilizing our state-of-the-art wire EDM machines lies in achieving such exacting cuts consistently across every piece. Beyond exceptional cutting tolerances, wire EDM services offer additional benefits including:
- Consistency – Conventional cutting tools can wear or break during processing, leading to minor inconsistencies in finished products. Wire EDM machines continuously feed new wire between spools to maintain uniform quality throughout production.
- Material Compatibility – Wire EDM can execute precise cuts on a broader range of materials compared to other cutting services. Our wire EDM equipment machines both hardened metals like graphite and softer materials such as copper with equal precision.
- Eliminates Finishing – Dynamic Design & Manufacturing produces ultra-fine surface finishes that require no additional post-processing or surface treatment.
- Simultaneous Cutting – Wire EDM can cut through stacked materials to produce identical OEM components concurrently, enhancing efficiency for volume production.
Wire EDM Services Can Reduce Your Production Costs
Wire EDM is an exceptionally versatile machining solution, often the preferred choice among industry professionals for producing complex shapes. Ideal for Oil & Gas industry projects, we regularly provide EDM machining services to robotics developers, medical equipment manufacturers, and the aerospace sector. Wire EDM offers the perfect solution, particularly when working with exotic metals or other difficult-to-machine materials.
Wire EDM Cutting Process – How It Works
CNC Wire EDM stands for “Wire Electrical Discharge Machining.” This cutting method delivers exceptional precision and can be applied to nearly any electrically conductive material. The process involves suspending a thin EDM wire between two mechanical guides, which is then electrically charged to form an electrode.
The workpiece material—such as steel—serves as the second electrode. When the charged wire approaches the material, electrical sparks are generated that erode the workpiece, leaving behind a precise negative impression. Throughout the cutting process, both the workpiece and wire remain submerged in deionized water, which continuously flushes away eroded debris.
Notably, the charged wire never makes physical contact with the material being cut. This non-contact characteristic enables wire EDM to produce extremely small, delicate components requiring levels of precision unattainable with traditional CNC machining methods.
Materials Used for Wire Cutting Machining
Wire EDM can effectively cut any electrically conductive material. Even extremely hard steel alloys and other materials that are difficult to mold or cut without applying heat can be precisely machined using electrical discharge technology.
This method is particularly well-suited for cutting costly materials such as tungsten. Given the high expense of these metals, precision is essential for minimizing quality issues and reducing material waste. Wire EDM enhances cost-efficiency when working with exotic and expensive materials.
Common materials processed with this method include:
- Tungsten
- Brass/bronze
- Carbon graphite
- Copper
- Carbon steel
- Stainless steel
- Inconel
Wire EDM Applications
Our expertise spans both hard and soft metals, with wire EDM cutting applicable to aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, spring steel, stainless steel, steel, and titanium—including super alloys and difficult-to-machine materials. This process can cut most simple or complex 2D shapes, encompassing thin walls, cutouts, intricate openings, and sharp internal corners. Our equipment utilizes wire diameters ranging from 0.004″ to 0.012″ to effectively cut metals that are too hard for conventional machining methods.

Wire EDM Process
It is important to understand that Wire EDM is an erosion process, distinct from other subtractive methods that rely on mechanical cutting. As a result, it produces different surface characteristics, which often depend on the number of passes (iterative cuts) to achieve the optimal finish. Here is how we approach this process:
First Pass (Rough Cut)
A rougher finish that rapidly achieves the general design within a tolerance of ±0.002″. For approximately 90% of wire EDM parts, the first pass alone is sufficient, as this tolerance meets the requirements for many applications and surface finishing needs.
Second Pass (Finishing Cut)
For more demanding applications, a second pass with greater refinement can achieve tolerances up to ±0.0005″ along with a surface finish of 72 µin—a quality nearly indiscernible to the naked eye.
Third Pass (More Granular Details)
This represents the most refined cut with the finest finish, essential for highly sensitive applications such as medical devices and aerospace components. The third pass can achieve a surface finish as low as 35 µin, exceeding the requirements for many wire EDM applications.
