What Are Die Casting Molds?

The fundamental process involves first filling the mold cavity with liquid metal at either low or high speed, utilizing a mold equipped with a movable cavity surface. How Are Die Casting Molds Manufactured?

Die casting is a manufacturing process commonly used to produce precisely dimensioned, well-defined metal parts with smooth or textured surfaces. It involves forcing molten metal under high pressure into reusable metal dies. The die casting mold manufacturing process follows these key steps:

  • A mold is created in at least two sections to allow proper removal of the finished casting.

  • The mold sections are securely mounted within the machine, with one section stationary and the other movable.

  • The two halves are firmly clamped together.

  • Molten metal is injected into the die cavity, where it rapidly solidifies.

  • The die halves are separated, and the finished casting is ejected.
