Mold Making Processes
Mold making is a complex process that requires a high level of skill and experience. Although each case is different, a typical order for a set of molds may go something like this:
1. DFM
Once the customer confirms the mold order, we begin with an initial part analysis to determine key factors such as the part line and gate positions.
2. Mold design and mold flow analysis
The next step involves predictive modeling software, which simulates how molten material will behave as it enters the mold—enabling further design refinements.
3. CNC machining and EDM
We then manufacture the initial molds using high-quality machining equipment, with materials such as plastic, steel, or aluminum selected according to customer specifications.
4. T1 sample
Following mold fabrication, we produce a T1 sample to provide a clear preview of how the final molded parts will appear.
5. Improvement if necessary
Based on our evaluation of the T1 sample, we review the mold design and implement any necessary adjustments.
6. Commence production and shipping
Finally, we manufacture the molds to final specifications before shipping them to the customer.
